Integumentary System
The integumentary system contains both living and non- living cells. It forms a protective covering, this protects your body from all sorts of damage such as dehydration or cuts/ scrapes. It contains epithelial, connective, muscular, and nervous tissues. An example is it using epithelial tissue as the outer layer of the skin.
SkinThis protects you by giving you enough water and keeping bad particles out. It keeps you in touch with the outside world. Nerves let you feel your surroundings. It also helps you regulate your body temperature; organs make sweat glands that will cool you off. It also helps get rid of wastes, several waste chemicals can be removed in sweat. There are two main structures, the dermis and the epidermis. The epidermis is the outer layer of skin whereas the dermis is the thick layer beneath your epidermis.
This is a song about the integumentary system. It will teach you more in depth about skin.

HairHair protects your skin from the harsh light. It keeps particles out of your eyes and nose also. Lastly, it regulates your body temperature by keeping you warm; hair acts like a "blanket". To do so, it stands up. It is made out of living and non- living cells. The very tip of your hair is living, all else is dead. This part is called a hair follicle.

NailsNails protects the tips of your fingers and toes. As new cells form, the nails grow longer, thus why we have to cut them. That's neat! They grow from living cells in nail root or base of nail.
