Pathogens
A pathogen is anything that causes a disease. Pathogens include:
|
Bacteria: Bacteria's domain is bacteria and its kingdom is eubacteria. It is bad because it can cause disease, and it can evolve quickly. However, these diseases can be treated with antibiotics. On the contrary, bacteria can occasionally be good when it makes food in your gut and is a useful part in making vaccines.
Viruses: Viruses contain genetic material, RNA. They need a host(an organism that they live on). They also cannot reproduce, use energy, eat, or maintain homeostasis, making them non- living. They have a protein coat for protection, some have a lipid layer. To harm you, they will hijack a cell's nucleus. They can however be prevented with a vaccine. Fungi: Fungi's domain is eukarya, its kingdom is fungi. They are harmful because they can cause disease. However, they can also be good because you can eat them and they are decomposers. They are also heterotrpic, meaning they cannot make their own food. Parasites: These are plants or animals that require a host for survival. They do cause damage to the host. They're domain is eukarya and their kingdom can be either animalia or plantae. |
